Villa Pesenti Agliardi from above

The garden conceived by Leopold Pollack is an innovative project for a useful and delightful garden. An environment planned to the smallest detail to entertain, relax and amaze the guest with ingenious, imaginative and intriguing results. The architect Pollack, designed Villa Reale in Milan and Bergamo’s Teatro Sociale, as well as many other villas in Lombardy. The villa is situated within the Parco dei Colli di Bergamo at the foot of the Sombreno hills. The Seventeenth Century mansion was modified in 1798. This renovation was commissioned by Count Pietro Pesenti and carried out by Pollack, with an innovative project to reinterpret both, the residence and the garden in the neoclassical style. The original project is exhibited in the halls of the mansion and consists of twenty-seven watercolour panels. After the death of Pietro Pesenti in 1826, the villa was inherited by his niece Marianna Agliardi. The project was not fully realized and the garden was subsequently reinterpreted in the romantic style. In the garden, the visitor can admire centuries-old plants including magnificent Redwoods and the majestic Himalayan Cedar, recognized among the great trees of Lombardy.Within the villa, the hosts will guide you to visit the chapel, the monumental staircase, and through rooms decorated with remarkable frescoes and stucco.
